Today for my Friday Favourite blog post I'm talking about theBalm's highlighter pressed powder, the infamous Mary-Lou Manizer. Firstly because I'm so incredibly excited to finally have this in my hot little hands after wanting it for maybe a year, and secondly because I ran out of time to do my regular list of Friday Favourites hehe. So, does Mary-Lou Manizer live up to the hype? Keep reading to find out.
PackagingTheBalm products always have beautiful, retro style packaging. This one features a pretty but cheeky looking girl. Mary-Lou Manizer comes as a pressed powder, which I always prefer over messy loose powder products. The compact also has a mirror which I am thankful for every time I apply this product.
Mary-Lou Manizer is a stunning champagne gold shade which would suit most fair to medium skin tones. There is one other shade, a bronze colour called Betty-Lou Manizer to suit darker skin tones. When I first applied Mary-Lou Manizer, I was somewhat crestfallen to see quite a glittery effect on my skin. Once you buff and work it into your skin though, you're left with a beautiful, I would call satin finish champagne/gold highlight. Applied to the traditional highlight areas, your upper cheekbones, down the length of your nose, above the outer brow bones, and above the top lip cupid's bow, Mary-Lou Manizer provides radiance and prettiness as these parts of your face catch the light.

ApplicationStep one, grab your Mary-Lou Manizer compact and head to the window. Hopefully it's a sunny day, because it's easiest to see this product on your face in a really good light. Indoors, you can apply a tonne of product without realizing it, then head out doors with a major sheen. Even a modest application will be visible when checked on the outside of a car window before you head off to work or play.
An easy way to apply is to use your finger. Just swipe in the pan, then over the targeted areas you want to highlight (most commonly the upper cheek bones, to draw attention to your eyes). Blend in with your finger, then use another, clean finger to blend out the edges.
To apply with a brush, I pick up some Mary-Lou Manizer on the edge of my ecotools custom coverage buffing brush, then swipe a streak of product across the area I want to highlight. Then I'll use the flat part of the brush to buff the highlight into my skin.
I bought my Mary-Lou Manizer from adorebeauty.com.au for $34.95 with free postage. It's pricey, but I'm so happy to have found a lovely, warm toned highlighter. As you only need a little, this one will literally last for years. It's so pretty, I now wear it every day! Do you use a highlighter? Let me know if you know of another good one. Have a great weekend!
